You will be placed in a waiting area or cell. If the jail is really busy, you will have to wait a while to get processed.
The first step is that you must answer a number of questions, such as your legal name, street address, birthdate and an emergency contact, and you will also be asked about your medical and mental history. Next, you will be issued an inmate ID number and you will get fingerprinted. Then, all personal property will get taken away from you and stored until you get released from jail.
They will allow you to use the telephone so you can talk to a member of your family, friend, or somebody else who can help you get out.
If they expect that you will make bail and be released quickly, you will be allowed to skip the jumpsuit and keep wearing your own clothes, but if you are not expected to make bail quickly you you will be given a jail issued jumpsuit.
Discharge Procedures
When you post bail, you will get discharged from jail. This process can take anywhere between 30 minutes to all day. Or, simply, the faster bail is posted, the faster you will get discharged. How quickly you get discharged can depend on if you have a bond amount or if a judge still needs to figure out the amount of bail to be set. When you get to the end of your sentence and have a discharge date, you should expect to get discharged in the morning.

The rates are posted and there are at least two pricing tiers based on where the inmate is calling. The following three things will determine the cost of an inmate phone call: Where you are located; Where your inmate is located, What type of phone number you have.
For example, if your inmate is in federal prison, if you get a new local number then this will decrease your inmate’s phone call rate from $.21 per minute to only $.06 per minute.
For state prisons and local jails finding out how to decrease your inmates phone charges can be more difficult. ArrestedResources.com keeps up to date with all of the changes that affect your inmate’s calling rate and in most cases is able to offer you an inmate calling number that will save you a lot of money on inmate phone calls. There are some circumstances where we won’t be able to save you money on your inmate calls, and in these cases we will not offer you an inmate calling number.
