The first step is that you must answer some simple questions, like your full name, street address, date of birth and contact person, and you will also be asked about your medical and mental history. Next, you’ll be given an inmate number and you will be fingerprinted. Then, all personal property will be taken away from you and stored until you get released from jail.

If you think you will get released quickly, you might be allowed to keep wearing your own clothes, if not you you will have to wear a jail uniform – the jumpsuit.
Discharge Procedures
Once bail has been posted, you will get discharged from jail. This process takes from 10 minutes to all day long. In simple terms, the faster bail is posted, the quicker you will get discharged. Also, it depends on whether or not you’ve been given a bond amount or if a magistrate has to determine your bail amount. For minor charges, you will simply be booked and released on your own recognizance.
