Intake Procedures
The intake procedure at the Morris County Jail takes you through each of these steps:
You will be placed in a holding cell. If the jail is really busy, you will have to wait a while to get processed.
First you will have to answer some basic questions, such as what is your full legal name, street address, birthdate and an emergency contact, and you will also be asked about your medical and psychological history. Next, you’ll be given an inmate ID and you will be fingerprinted. Then, all of your personal property will get taken away from you and stored until you get released.
You will get to use the telephone so you can talk to a family member, friend, or loved-on.
If you think you will get released quickly, you will be allowed to keep wearing street clothes, if not you will be issued a jail uniform.
Discharge Procedures
Once bail has been posted, you will be allowed to leave jail. Getting discharged from jail takes between 10 minutes to all day long. Or, simply, the faster you can pay your bail, the faster you will get released. It also might depend on whether you’ve got a bond amount or if the judge needs to decide on the bail amount. For a minor charge, you will get booked and then released on your recognizance without having to pay bail. When you have completed your jail sentence and know the date of your release, you should plan to get released in the morning.

Correctional facility phone service companies have exclusive contracts at every facility that they are the exclusive phone provider for, which means that they they control how much it costs to make phone calls. The rates are posted and there are at least two pricing tiers based on where the inmate is calling. The following three things will determine the cost of an inmate phone call: Where you are located; Where your inmate is located, What type of phone number you have.
For example, if your inmate is in federal prison, if you get a new local number then this will decrease your inmate’s phone call rate from $.21 per minute to only $.06 per minute.
For state prisons and local jails figuring out how to lower your inmates phone charges is more difficult. ArrestedResources.com keeps up to date with all of the changes that affect your inmate’s calling rate and in most cases is able to offer you an inmate calling number that will save you significantly on calling your inmate. There are some prisons or jails where we will not be able to save you money on your inmate calls, and in these cases we will not offer you an inmate calling number. In cases like this, the facility has set their calling prices so high that nobody can save you money.
