Intake Procedures

You will be placed in a waiting area or cell. If the jail is really busy, you will have to wait, sometimes for many hours, before you get processed.
The first thing you will have to to is you will have to answer some basic questions, such as your full legal name, address, date of birth and contact person, and they’ll also ask you about your medical and psychological history. Next, you will be issued an inmate ID number and you will get fingerprinted. Then, all personal property will be taken from you and stored until you get discharged from jail.
You will then be allowed to make a phone call in order to call a member of your family, friend, or loved one.
If they expect that you will make bail and be released quickly, you will be allowed to skip the jumpsuit and keep wearing your own clothes, if not you you will be given a jumpsuit.
Discharge Procedures
When you pay your bail, you will be allowed to go home after you get discharged. Getting discharged from jail can take between 10 minutes to all day long. In other words the quicker you post bail, the sooner you will get let go. Also, it might depend on whether or not you have a bond amount or if the judge still needs to figure out how much to set your bail at. For lesser charges, you will get booked and then released on your recognizance without having to pay bail. When you have served out your jail sentence and are given a release date, you should plan to get discharged at any time that day – but usually in the morning.

How To Save Money on Inmate Calls
Correctional facility phone service companies have a monopoly at each facility that they have a contract with, which means that they they control how much it costs to make phone calls. The profits off of all of the phone calls that inmates make are split with the facility, so there is no incentive for the jail or the counselors at the facility to show inmates or their family how to save money on inmate phone calls at the Humboldt County Jail. The prices are posted and there are at least two pricing tiers based on where the inmate is calling. These three things will determine how much an inmate phone call will cost: Where you are located; Where your inmate is located, What type of phone number you have.
For example, if your inmate is in federal prison, if you get a new local number then this will decrease your inmate’s phone call rate from $.21 per minute to only $.06 per minute.
For state prisons and local jails learning how to decrease your inmates phone charges is more difficult. ArrestedResources.com keeps up to date with all of the changes that affect your inmate’s rate and in most cases is able to offer you an inmate calling number that will save you significantly on inmate phone calls. There are some circumstances where we will not be able to save you money on your inmate calls, and therefore we will not offer you an inmate calling number. In these cases, the jail or prison has set their phone call rates in a way that nobody will be able to save you money.
