You will be placed in a holding cell. If the jail is busy, you will have to wait, sometimes for many hours, before you get processed.
The first step is that you must answer a bunch of questions, like what is your legal name, address, date of birth and an emergency contact, and they’ll also ask about your medical and psychological history. Next, you’ll be given an inmate ID and your fingerprints will be taken. Then, any personal property you have will get taken away from you and stored until you are discharged.
They will let you make a telephone call to talk to family, friends, or loved one.
If you think you will get released quickly, you might be able to wear your own clothes, but if you are not expected to make bail quickly you you will be given a jail jumpsuit.
Discharge Procedures
When you finally post bail, you will be discharged from jail. The discharge process takes from 10 minutes to quite a few hours. Or, simply, the faster you can post bail, the faster you will get discharged from jail. How quickly you get discharged might depend on whether or not you’ve been given a cash bond or if a magistrate must determine how much to set your bail at. For minor charges, you will get booked and then released on your recognizance without having to pay bail. When you get to the end of your sentence and know the release date, you should plan to get discharged that morning.

Correctional facility phone service companies have exclusive contracts at each facility that they have a contract with, which means that they they control how much it costs to make phone calls. The rates are posted and there are at least two types of prices based on where the inmate is calling. The following three factors will determine the cost of an inmate phone call: Where you are located; Where your inmate is located, What type of phone number you have.
For example, if your inmate is in federal prison, if you get a new local number then this will decrease your inmate’s phone call rate from $.21 per minute to only $.06 per minute.
For state prisons and local jails finding out how to lower your inmates phone charges is more difficult. ArrestedResources.com keeps up to date with all of the changes that affect your inmate’s rate and in most cases is able to offer you an inmate calling number that will save you significantly on how much it costs you to call your inmate. In some cases, we will not be able to save you any money, and therefore we will not offer you an inmate calling number. In cases like this, the facility has set their phone rates in a way that nobody can save you money.
